TIMBER & STRUCTURE

Laminated wooden epoxy, long keels, planking that has to last another forty years. The oldest trade in the yard and still the one everything else is measured against.

TAUGHT HERE SINCE 1964

INTERIOR & VENEER

Bulkheads, soles and cabinetry cut to a hull that is never square twice. The work is judged from a metre away, in daylight, by an owner.

APPRENTICESHIP: 3 YEARS

COMPOSITE & GRP

Infusion, hand lay-up and repair schedules on hulls built by other yards, to drawings that sometimes no longer exist.

STEEL & ALUMINIUM

Plate, frames and tanks to class survey — DNV, Lloyd's, RINA or Türk Loydu watching the seam. Certification supported and paid for by the yard.

Rewiring a forty-metre yacht without the original loom diagram. Half the job is what you find behind the panel, not what the spec said.

PAINT & FINISH

The trade nobody photographs and everybody sees. Weeks of longboard before a single litre of topcoat is opened.

PROPULSION & HYDRAULICS

Repowers, hybrid installations, steering and stabiliser work. Hands on the machinery, not only on the drawing.

One person carries the yacht from survey to redelivery, answers to the owner, and has to be trusted by every foreman on the job.

THE PATH

You are hired for your hands, then taught the rest.

No qualification opens a door here that time on the floor cannot. The progression below is not a promise of speed — it is the honest shape of a career at this yard, and the one Hüseyin Mengi walked before he ran it.

I Apprentice YEAR 1 — 2

Paid from the first day, assigned to one foreman and one trade. No prior experience asked for. Turkish or English, either is fine.

II Tradesman YEAR 3 — 6

Your own tools, your own tasks, your own mistakes to answer for. Certification in your trade is paid for by the yard.

III Leading Hand YEAR 7 — 12

A small crew and a section of the yacht. The first point at which you are teaching someone else what you were taught.

IV Foreman YEAR 12 +

A hull, a schedule and the people on it. Every foreman here came up this way — none were hired into it from outside.

Seven places, and one of them takes beginners.

Own a yacht from survey through redelivery: scope, schedule, subcontractors, class, and the owner's representative on the dock every week. You will be the person who says what is possible and then makes it true.

TUZLA · HEAD YARD

Rewiring, navigation and entertainment systems, switchboards and shore power on yachts between 25 and 60 metres — most of them built somewhere else, by someone else, with the drawings long gone.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR Fault-finding without a diagram AC and DC marine systems, 24 V through 400 V Willing to certify in-house if not already certified

TUZLA · HEAD YARD

Structural repair and rebuild in GRP and carbon: infusion, hand lay-up, core replacement and osmosis work on hulls that arrive with more history than paperwork.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR Two years in composites, marine or aerospace Respirator-fit and happy in full PPE Patience for a repair schedule that changes once it is opened up

YALOVA · HULL & STEEL

Interior fit-out and restoration — bulkheads, soles, cabinetry and veneer — to a standard an owner inspects from a metre away in daylight. Bench work and on-board fitting, roughly half each.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR Fine woodwork; marine experience welcome but not required Reading a drawing and a hull that disagrees with it Own hand tools (machinery is the yard's)

TUZLA · JOINERY SHOP

Longboard fairing, primer schedules and topcoat in the paint hall. The trade that decides how the whole refit is judged from the tender, twenty metres off the transom.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR A steady hand and a longer temper Awlgrip, Alexseal or equivalent systems Two years minimum on hulls over 20 metres

PENDIK · DRY DOCK

Stability, structural calculation and class submission for conversions and repowers. In-house design has never been outsourced at this yard and will not start now.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR Degree in naval architecture or marine engineering One class society's rules known properly, others learnable Rhino, AutoCAD or equivalent; NAPA an advantage

TUZLA · DESIGN OFFICE

Two paid years, one trade, one foreman. You will be taught the way this yard has taught since 1964 — on the floor, on real yachts, by someone who was taught the same way. No experience required and none expected.

WHAT COMES WITH THE BENCH

Plain terms, kept.

Paid from day one Apprentices included. Nobody works here unpaid, at any stage.

Certification at the yard's cost Class welding tickets, PPE, forklift and crane, safety training — all of it paid for.

Yard transport and lunch Shuttle from Tuzla centre and a hot meal on site, every shift.

Winter is not a lay-off Refit fills the months new build cannot. The gates do not close in January.

Language help, both ways English classes for Turkish staff, Turkish for the crews who arrive with the yacht.

A foreman, not a handbook Everyone new is assigned one named person who is accountable for teaching them.
