1964
The Beginning
Mengi Yay Yachts was founded by Ramazan Mengi in Istanbul, inspired by his father’s craftsmanship in boat building. He started his career as an apprentice at age 11, learning the construction of small boats.
1983
Relocation to Tuzla
Following a governmental resolution in 1982, Mengi Yay’s workshop moved to Tuzla, a hub for the yachting sector.
1986
Expansion in Craftsmanship: First 100 Boats
The company built its first 100 fishing and rowing boats, and began constructing larger yachts over 20 meters, marking a significant milestone in its history.
1987
A Record-Breaking Gulet
Mengi Yay delivered a 27.5-meter Gulet, the longest at the time, completed within just 12 months.
1989
Entering the Mega Yacht Market
The company expanded into building mega yachts over 30 meters, designed and engineered by an in-house team.
1992
Setting New Standards
The launch of the 36-meter sail yacht “Cağlar” set a record as the longest sailing yacht in Turkey at that time.
1996
Leadership Transition
Hüseyin Mengi succeeded his father as CEO, bringing a fresh perspective and dedication to sustainable yacht building.
2006
First Steel Super Yacht
This year marked the contract for the company’s first steel super yacht, showcasing Mengi Yay’s versatility in yacht construction.
2010
Redefining Modern Trawlers
The 40-meter Serenity II introduced a new design approach for trawlers, emphasizing modern aesthetics and functionality.
2012
Expansion and Modernization
Mengi Yay acquired extensive facilities in Yalova, expanding its capacity to construct and refit luxury yachts up to 130 meters.
2018
Introduction of Virtus Lines
The Virtus 44 and 47 lines were established, blending Italian design with Mengi Yay’s 50 years of innovative yacht building experience.
2020
Major Expansion
Multiple hangars were acquired and modernized which increased the total area to 35.000 sqm for new-build and refit.
2022
Innovations in Design and Propulsion
The Virtus 53 XP was launched, featuring hybrid propulsion, ice-class capabilities, and a touch-and-go helipad, setting new industry standards.
2023
Strategic Collaboration and New Ventures
In collaboration with renowned yacht designer Nuvolari Lenard, the NL 50+ line was introduced.
